Restart and Check Basic Settings

Phone Data Issues After Software Update? Here's What to Do

If your mobile data suddenly stopped working after a software update, you’re not alone. It’s surprisingly common for updates—whether on Android or iOS—to cause network-related bugs, misconfigured settings, or temporary glitches. While it’s frustrating, there are several things you can do to troubleshoot the issue and get your phone back online.

Right after any update, the first thing you should do is restart your phone. This helps clear temporary conflicts and resets the network stack. Then, check that:

Mobile data is turned on

Airplane mode is off

You’re not connected only to Wi-Fi

Your SIM card is detected and active

Also, look for new network settings or permissions the update austria phone number list may have changed—sometimes mobile data toggles or roaming settings get reset without notice.

2. Reset or Reconfigure Network Settings
If basic checks don’t fix the issue, go to your settings and perform a network settings reset:

On iPhone: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings

On Android: Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth

This won’t delete personal data but will wipe saved Wi-Fi passwords and VPN settings. After resetting, re-enter any custom APN (Access Point Name) settings your carrier may require. You can usually find these on your carrier’s website.

Important: If your carrier uses custom data configurations, you may need to reinstall or update the carrier settings manually.
