October and November 2015 turned out to be very unfavorable for tourism. The explosion and crash of a Russian plane with tourists flying out of Egypt, and the Russian Su-24 shot down by Turkey – these incidents were definitely negative for those people who were used to vacationing in these countries, or were planning to spend their next vacation there.

That’s why BRIF Research Group conducted a survey of urban population in Kazakhstan in December 2015. We wanted to understand how these events affected people’s intention to visit Turkey and Egypt in 2016.

BRIF conducted an on - line survey of the population of macedonia cell phone number list large cities of Kazakhstan, using the services of the partner company OnlineOpros.kz . A total of 314 people aged 25-49 (the most active part of the population) were surveyed in 7 cities of Kazakhstan, in December 2015.

How did the events of October-November 2015 affect the tourism intentions of Kazakhstanis?

As the survey showed, these tragic events did not have a visible impact on people's intentions.

Thus, in 2015, 6.7% of respondents went to Turkey as tourists, and 7% plan to visit this country in 2016. The share of tourists to Egypt was already low - only 0.3% of respondents answered that they visited this country before October 2015. And the share of those planning to visit Egypt in 2016 was also 0.3%. That is, we can say that there were no fluctuations.

We interviewed an expert from the tourism business, and he confirmed that there were no serious changes in customer behavior related to these events.
