Marketing Strategies
One thing must be said: everyone now sees great potential in everything that revolves around the Internet.

In fact, when speaking with clients, entrepreneurs and friends I often hear them singing the praises of the web , of social networks and of the potential they offer to find new clients and retain existing ones. Then, many add that the advantage also comes from the fact that "it's all free or almost".

To my question, then why if it is all free or almost, there are companies that invest from thousands of Euros up to millions (multinationals) to achieve excellent results in communication, brand positioning, conversions on the web and on social networks? Many people do not know how to answer this question.

However, carefully analyzing the arguments of my entrepreneur friends , we can say that they are not completely wrong as long as the available tools are used correctly (some free and others paid) so as to obtain not excellent but at least good responses even with a limited budget.
To do this, entrepreneur friends will necessarily have to have a great deal of preparation and updating, time to invest, the perseverance of a marathon runner and a lot of patience because the journey is long and mistakes will always be there (even from those who have been doing this job for a long time).

In the following lines you will find 10 common mistakes to avoid so as to start reducing the initial number of “falls”.

Mistake #1: Thinking that Facebook can be your main communication channel.
Many entrepreneurs, especially small businesses, companies or professionals, use Facebook as the main channel for their institutional communication. Products, services and offers are always present in their posts on the social network and are continuously uploaded. Some decide to post photos of work in progress and semi-finished products on their pages, thinking that in this way they will be visible and above all appreciated for their skills. Nothing could be more wrong!

This communication risks being more harmful than anything else because it is done in the wrong place and towards the wrong target of users. If you decide to make an “active” and always updated communication, the main communication channel (Hub) is always and only your website . Here you can insert posts, products, services, contact pages, e-commerce that remain “still” there and will always be reachable. Social networks are like a moving river , so your communication is visible only for a few moments and for a few people who are there at that moment (unless long and targeted searches are done, which almost no one ever does). In addition to this, they must be interested in the proposed topic and the post must attract their attention (photos of your semi-finished products should be categorically avoided).

If you decide to do media marketing activities, you need to start from the website and use social networks only to expand your communication.

Mistake #2: Inserting your service communications (new hours, change of address, extraordinary openings) into the wrong channels.
Have you ever gone to your favorite seafood restaurant and been surprised to find it closed, only to be told the next day by the owner that he had changed the weekly shift and updated the hours on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn?

Here is a classic example of wrong communication because the main information must be managed on static pages and not delegated to social posts that last a few hours.

Communication must always come across as precisely and clearly as possible.

Recommended channels are your own website , Google My Business and Apple Maps Connect pages , or your own mobile app by sending push notifications to your customers.

Mistake #3: Promoting on Facebook without using Facebook ADS.
My clients who have a business page on Facebook often ask me: why spend money to promote posts or the fan page when it is enough to publish a photo and an article that spreads on the social network?

Simple! Because unless you have a fan page of a few thousand users interested in your brand, the post is spontaneously viewed (organic visibility) by such a low percentage of users that almost no one notices it.

To realize this, just look at the insight data (statistics) of your Facebook page (the insight data works if you have at least 30 followers). The number of views of the post increases only with likes, comments and shares . But if there are none, it is almost a waste of time.

If, however, you believe that that specific promotional activity is strategic for your brand , then investing even a few Euros a day to reach a target of thousands of people definitely changes the value of your marketing.

Mistake #4: Believing that all your followers read what you write.
Only a small portion of your followers read your content because social networks are dynamic, news flows quickly, users connect at different times, and social algorithms “outline” the content they want to interact with most.

That's why you shouldn't feel bad if you post something and your friends don't read it or interact with it.

Mistake #5: Inviting friends to follow your fan page.
Another common practice that can be more harmful than anything else. If you have a fan page for your online sewing course and invite friends who certainly won’t be interested, you will almost certainly find “passive” fans who won’t want to interact with your posts.

They will therefore be a “dead weight” that will reduce all your KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and above all the authority of your page.

Better then to build them through spontaneous fans without inviting people who certainly have no interest in your page. Maybe invest those few Euros to promote it by going to catch only those who are interested in your topic.

For example, even though sewing can be defined as a niche topic, on Facebook there are 240,000 Italians interested in this subject!

Mistake #6: Not taking care of the images and videos you post.
Images and videos are among the tools that most attract your followers . Posting cropped images or images with distracting elements or with the wrong wording can backfire on your communication.
