Mobile-first index: What awaits us?

Post by suchona.kani.z »

The index is basically nothing more than a huge catalog of all websites and web pages. It is used by Google to sort information from the Internet to provide you with the most useful search results. The size of Google's index is over 100,000,000 GB, see its indexing page .

Until now, Google has looked at websites through the eyes of desktop users. Even if you searched on your mobile, Google has shown you results that point to websites that are not optimized for mobile viewing. This order will change. Websites that are optimized for mobile devices will be prioritized. Proper mobile viewing of a website will be more important than ever .

Index deployment in 2018 at the earliest
In November 2016, Google announced that it would create a new mobile-first index . It also began testing the new index. It is responding to the growing number of searches from mobile devices . Until now, website responsiveness was only one of the evaluation criteria according to which results were ranked. The mobile-first index should change that.

Google first checks the mobile version of the website, and if there employment database is none, it will only start examining the desktop version.

Google analyst Gary Illyes expects the mobile index to go live in 2018. Google is currently working out how the index will work so that it doesn't hurt sites that don't have a mobile version.

Redesign special domains for mobile
The mobile-first index should mainly address websites that have a separate mobile version . Some websites have a mobile version on a domain like m.web.cz, which often has different content than the more complex desktop version. Gary Illyes says that responsive websites are well prepared for the new index and such websites should not be affected by the index in a major way.

The mobile version of the website on its own domain m.vas-web.cz has its advantages. For example, it is significantly easier to develop, because the developer does not have to worry about responsiveness and display on two diametrically different monitors. However, Google has encountered a problem with different content here . There is less mobile content, it lacks linking, content duplications appear, and the like.
