Step 6: How to finally finish writing your book
How to finish your book
There is a saying that I like to tell aspiring authors:
"I'm writing a book right now. I've already got the page numbers ready."
– Stephen Wright
Usually everyone laughs because they know exactly what that means:
Everyone starts writing a book.
Very few finish.
There are more books being read than there are inhabitants in Germany.
Why?
Why do so few people manage to finish their book?
The most common reason:
There is a lack of routine.
Too many greece telegram screening beginning authors believe that writing a book is a Herculean task.
The book is a giant dragon that must be defeated with one blow.
Incorrect.
A book is more like a swarm of little fruit flies.
You have to kill them one by one.
Day after day.
A fly every day.
Means for you:
Write a little every day.
And not "50,000 words in a month".
Because you are working against your brain.
Our brains tend to avoid big, difficult, and scary tasks – like writing 2,000 words a day.
Your brain will do everything it can to avoid this unpleasant activity – cleaning, tidying up, cooking.
