Because then you always write under the influence of fear: "I should add that." "Oh, that sounds too harsh. I need to tone it down." "I might offend someone, so I'd rather leave that out..."
Great authors are the conscience of society. They say what everyone thinks but no one dares to say.
“Good writing has a lot to do with letting go of fear and affectation.”
Writing tip #15) Writing is refined thinking
Unfortunately, our fingers are often faster than our minds.
We all know the saying: think first, then speak.
For authors, think first, then write.
Remove the obvious and banal china telegram screening from your texts. Surprise the reader.
Writing tip #16) The ellipse
I use this stylistic element very often and I really like it. It tightens the text like Botox tightens the face.
What is an ellipsis? An incomplete sentence.
As a rule, a classic sentence consists of a subject and a predicate.
If you leave out the predicate or the subject, the text becomes sharper, faster and more dynamic. The ellipsis is ideal for increasing tension at key moments.
Example without ellipses:
"He ran to the door and listened. He heard nothing. Only the sound of the wind and the rustling of the leaves could be heard."
