Chances are you've bought something online. Nothing special. Certainly not when you look at figures showing that in 2013 almost 11 million Dutch people made a purchase via the internet. Online shopping turnover increases
Recently, Thuiswinkel Markt Monitor 2013 was published; a study into online consumer spending by Blauw Research commissioned by Thuiswinkel.org . This means digital purchases of products/services for private purposes by consumers from companies (B2C). The results show that the turnover of online shopping is growing and will continue to increase in 2014. In 2007, approximately 5 billion was spent on online products and/or services. In 2013, this amount more than doubled to 10.6 billion euros. Toys and music are the categories that are growing the fastest.
Buy, buy, buy million orders in 2013. Compared to bahamas mobile phone number list 2012, this is an increase of 11 percent. According to the researchers, this growth is the most important driver of the online market. On average, Dutch consumers make 9 purchases. In 2012, this number was 8 orders per consumer. The average expenditure on internet purchases is €982. The amount per order is on average €109, in 2012 this was €111. Because consumers increasingly place small orders, the average amount spent is decreasing.
And 2014?
The researchers expect that the growth will continue in 2014. The use of mobile devices plays a role in this. The Dutch consumer will use the smartphone or tablet more often to buy a product and/or service online. Do you want to know more about online consumer spending?
