web fonts in particular

Post by sakibkhan29188 »

There are basically two types of fonts: serif fonts, "Antiqua," and sans serif fonts, "Grotesk," (leaving aside cursive). But what's the difference?

In a serif font , the letters have a fine line perpendicular to the main direction, called "feet," which helps the eye form lines. These end strokes promote good reading flow, as the letters fit together better. This makes serif fonts cyprus phone number data particularly suitable for body text due to their improved legibility. However, if a serif font is to be used on a website, a font size of at least 16 pt is recommended, as otherwise the font will "blur" due to the flourishes and serifs, and the type will become illegible, especially in small print. Unfortunately, serif fonts have a bit of an image problem, as they often appear a bit dated or conservative. But in my opinion, this is precisely why they are well suited for traditional companies, for example, and the typography alone creates a suitable atmosphere.

While a serif font is usually chosen for body text, headlines usually use a sans serif font. When combining both fonts, you need to be a bit careful so that the overall website doesn't appear too busy. You should use a maximum of two, or at most three, different fonts. Therefore, font families that include both serif and sans serif fonts are ideal. In such font families, the fonts have similar proportions and harmonize with each other.

A sans serif font , also known as grotesque, has simply shaped, unfussy glyphs. This linearity makes them appear clearer and more modern than serif fonts. Thanks to their simplicity, they are very legible even in small font sizes. Because of this universality, sans serif fonts are commonly used on websites both in body text and in headlines. Therefore, for short image descriptions or short paragraphs on websites, readability is not compromised by the use of sans serif fonts.
