Have you heard of the relatively new social media app Clubhouse? I've seen it pop up a few times in Bas Smit's Stories, and my colleagues Tineke and Annika were already Slacking about it enthusiastically. But what exactly can you do with this app? Which social media channel can Clubhouse be compared to? And the big question: is this app worth the download?
Clubhouse is an app (with 2 million users) where you can have and listen to live conversations. It is actually a mix between a podcast platform and a social media channel. The focus is on conversations. And not on chat conversations like with most social media apps, but on live 'spoken' conversations. Without images. So actually very flattened: 'group calling'.
Clubhouse is about talking and listening.
You can create group conversations on specific topics and invite conversation partners. You can phone number list schedule conversations, announce them and listen to the conversations between others.
How does Clubhouse work?
Out of curiosity about Clubhouse, I downloaded the app myself. At the moment, the app is only available in the App Store . But Android users, don't worry: an Android version is currently being worked on.
