Let’s take a look at how to move a WordPress site to a new hosting using the Duplicator plugin.
These instructions will work for any type of standard WordPress installation, allowing you to move your WordPress site from one hosting to another – remote or local. It will also work if you want to migrate an entire network of multisites. I’ll cover migrating sites in and out of Multisite later.
The Duplicator plugin works by creating two files:
A zip file containing the files and database from your old site (the site you're migrating from).
An installer.php file .
You then upload these files to the new site and run the installer.php file . The plugin will unzip the zip file and import your data and files.
Let's see how to do it.
Before starting the migration with Doplicator
Before you perform the migration, there are a few steps estonia phone number data you need to take.
Clean up your old site
Take some time to clean up your old site, meaning remove any themes or plugins you're not using. Update to the latest versions of WordPress, your theme, and plugins. There's no point in migrating a site that's running code you don't need.
Disable caching plugins
Caching plugins can interfere with migration, so if you're running any of these on your old site, disable them. If you're migrating to Kinsta, we have a list of banned plugins (including caching plugins) so make sure you're not running any of those.
Make a backup of your old site
Before moving a WordPress site from one host to another, make a backup . This applies to all types of hosting environments. Use your backup plugin or your hosting provider's control panel to create a backup of your old site and store it somewhere safe, not on your hosting server.
