This is how TORO RIG was born, from an idea to create something new, and that would internalize the culture of RIG practices in the Brazilian corporate market.
Defining the role of a specialized area in RIG and Relgov can often be confusing for those who are not yet familiar with these activities, according to experts. At this point in the conversation, Caldas asks Totaro how it is possible to differentiate these two practices .
In Totaro's view, government relations, or Relgov, will always be defined by interaction with the government . RIG, on the other hand, he understands as a broader activity, where several entities are involved in these relations.
To illustrate, Totaro explains how he organizes TORO RIG’s objectives:
“Today we have four main objectives: the government slovenia mobile database relationship itself; the reputational issue, where ESG concepts are included; institutional relations, such as with associations; and strategic communication,” explains Totaro.
Caldas points out that this more strategic approach has drawn the attention of RIG professionals to ESG practices . With this, he mentions the risks of greenwashing and loss of reputation by companies that are not aligned with environmental, social and governance factors.
However, concern about ESG is something that has been observed by large companies for many years, but previously it had other names, says Totaro. However, the expert highlights that, currently, the lack of investment in good practices and the difficulty in defining goals can negatively impact not only the reputation, but also the operations of organizations.
What is the strategic RIG
“Institutional and governmental relations need to generate value . ” This is how Totaro begins to define strategic RIG.
He explains that strategic RIG goes far beyond solving company problems or defending the institution's rights, as would be the case with a legal department. In other words, it is the ability to proactively minimize risks for the benefit of the community.
