More... Four final titles before we wrap up.

G. Around your brand name, similarly, with general text, anchor phrases, and links to help create or reinforce an association that Google makes around the language (helps with 4 and 5) . In this example I said earlier, Minted plus their photo cards page or a link to Minted photo cards appearing on the web, not only on their own website but everywhere else in general, will bias searches and search suggestions related to Minted cards. We’ve tested this. You can actually use anchor text and surrounding text to bias the order of how people search, in addition to how Google displays it.

H. Leverage some platforms that rank well and influence SERP features (helps with 2 and 4) . So instead of just trying to go into the general organic results, we can say, “Hey, I need some images here. Ah, Pinterest is doing an incredible job at image SEO. If I put a bunch of images of Minted, Minted cards or image cards on Pinterest, I’ll have a bolivia number data better shot at ranking and driving image results.” You can do the same with YouTube for videos. You can do the same thing with new sites and what’s called the Top Stories feature. Same thing with local and local review sites for the maps and local results feature. So all sorts of ways to do that.

Registering and using separate domains? Should I register and use a separate domain, like MintedCardReviews, which is owned by Minted? Generally, no. It’s not impossible to do SEO through reputation management, but it can be difficult. I’m not saying you probably won’t want to give it a go now and then, but generally it’s like building your own reviews, your own site. Google often recognizes these and sees them behind a domain registration wall, and you likely have little chance of ranking for them, plus you’re doing a ton of link building and stuff like that. It’s better to leverage someone’s platform, which can already rank, usually.
Negative SEO attacks. You may remember the story a few weeks ago, in Fast Company, where the mattress brand Casper was basically accused and found guilty of mostly going after and buying negative links from a review site that was giving them poor reviews. I think, especially these days, it’s a lot less effective than it was a few years ago after Google’s last Penguin update. But I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. You could get sued if you were caught doing it.
