Be careful not to plan too much (meditation for Johan)

Post by jrineakter »

Hello dear friend and thank you for joining me for this new episode of "Walk with Johan". So today, it's going to be like every Wednesday, a little episode of personal development.

And before I share with you the thoughts of the day, to approach the topic of the day, I must remind you that if you wish to have exclusive content in authentic French, you can join the free newsletter . You will have each week one to two emails with information to progress in French and, of course, to improve your life. So you have a link at the bottom. And I would like you to be part of our list.

So today, I would like to share with you one of my negative behaviors, not to tell you my life story, we don't care, but to help you not to fall into the same trap. And I admit that I also do it a little out of personal interest because I want it to help me be more effective on this point.

It's kind of like… like Marcus Aurelius, you know, the famous Stoic philosopher who was also a Roman emperor who wrote the book… so in English, they called it Meditation , and in French, they thailand whatsapp number data called it Thoughts for Myself. Actually, I say "he wrote," but it's not a book that he actually wrote, it's a journal actually. He kept a journal, and in this journal, he wrote his thoughts. And what you see in his thoughts is that he was remembering things.

He remembered things, that's why I find, for once, that the French translation of Meditation , since they could have translated it into Méditation , they translated it into Pensées pour moi-même , I find that not bad. Often, I don't really like the translations of English book titles into French, but here, I find that it was not bad. And so Marcus Aurelius, what he did or what he understood, is that it is necessary to remember something that we know but that we don't apply.

So what I'm going to do today is remind myself of a negative behavior that causes me a lot of stress, that I'm aware of, but that I can't ultimately combat, and there are lots of things like that. It seems crazy, we say to ourselves: "Wait. If you know it, why don't you apply it? Why don't you apply what you know, ultimately?"

But don't judge me, friends. We are all ultimately like that as human beings. We all know that we have to take care of our sleep, that we have to take care of our diet, that we have to move every day. We all know that cigarettes and alcohol are bad for our health. There is no doubt about it, we all know it. And apart from a few people, let's say, who would not be very very objective and realistic, we all know it. It is impossible to deny it.
