There is a French proverb that says

Post by jrineakter »

And Schopenhauer is right, just as Dale Carnegie is right. So often, as human beings, we focus on what we don't have, on what we want to have, and we forget all the things we have.

The grass is always greener elsewhere". It means... the grass, so what's on the ground, in the fields, when there is grass that is green, well it's supposed to be good because it allows animals to be fed. And when we say that the grass is always greener elsewhere, well it means that it's always better elsewhere. Where we are, we tend to say to ourselves: "Hm it's not the best, it's better elsewhere".

And in the podcast that inspired me for today's video, I was using the example of an old discussion that I had easily 20 years ago, more than 20 years ago, I think, with someone called Diego, who I met during an internship. And Diego, he was Venezuelan and he was studying in the United Kingdom, in England. And I met him during an internship in mexico whatsapp number data France, which he was doing in France and I was doing it too. And Diego told me something that struck me right away and that has always stayed with me, he said to me: "When I'm in Venezuela, I want to be in England, and when I'm in England, I want to be in Venezuela."

And this feeling, which is stupid, why do we always want to be where we are not, we all have it. I had it when I lived in Austria. When I lived in Austria, I said to myself: "I would like to go to France", and when I was in France, I said to myself: "I would like to go to Austria". So it's a bit of a tendency that we have, which is linked to our evolution, because it's always better to set goals to progress as a species, but in any case, this thing that can have positive aspects, it can also generate a lot of stress, because if we don't rejoice in what we have and we always tell ourselves that it's better elsewhere, well it's difficult to be happy.

And that's the problem that all ambitious people encounter. When we want more, we're going to set goals, we're going to have big ambitions, we're going to have a vision and we're going to say to ourselves: "Hey, I'm going to do this project that will allow me to have this result." And it's good in itself to try to progress, to try to learn things, to try to grow as a person, but if it's done to the extreme, if it's done to excess, well it brings a lot of anxiety and it pushes us to live in the future. Because we can't stop thinking about what we'll have later or what we'll do later, well forget to live our life in the present.
