A way to determine a relevant bounce rate
Aiming for some ideal bounce rate without taking into account many factors specific to your industry and type of site is a mistaken strategy. It is better to derive an approximate bounce rate based on specific conditions and do everything possible to systematically reduce it:

User needs and content features

Put yourself in the place of your website visitors. For what purpose do they visit your page? If you post reference materials, provide specific answers to questions that users may have, be prepared for a high bounce rate. The person quickly learned everything they wanted and left the site. Their need is satisfied, so don’t pay much attention to the numbers.

On the contrary, the owner of an online store should be wary of too high bounce rate values. Choosing the right product takes time and a large number of transitions within the site. A potential buyer opens dozens of cards, compares, reads reviews, that is, does not leave the trading platform for quite a long time. A high bounce rate indicates a negative trend and a drop in interest in the store, and the logical result will be a low level of sales.

PC, smartphone or tablet?

When determining the normal bounce rate for your site, you should not forget that this metric is affected by the type of device from which the user accesses the page. Active use of mobile gadgets inevitably leads to an increase in the bounce rate. If the specifics of your resource are such that visits from smartphones and tablets predominate, be prepared for a high bounce rate.

Advertising company RocketFuel experts calculated that the difference between bounce rate values for mobile devices and desktop computers is about 10–20%, while the normal bounce rate for smartphones is 60%, for tablets – 49%, and for PCs – 42%.
