Space is becoming more accessible. In the future, people without special training will be able to buy a ticket for the space shuttle as if it were a regular plane. Five missions are planned for the next six years that will change the nature of space travel forever. We take a closer look at where and when they will go, as well as who will be lucky enough to be on board.
Tom Cruise's flight to the ISS
Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman, who previously worked with the actor on Edge of Tomorrow, are reportedly set to embark on a space trip. They will visit the ISS with Michael López-Alegría, vice president of private company Axiom Space and former NASA astronaut. Axiom Space wants to build additional commercial modules for the space station. One crew seat is still vacant. We wrote earlier about how this story began .
It's not yet known which company will send Cruise to the station. NME speculates that the actor will be a member of SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft. This claim appears to be based on a tweet posted in September 2020 by an account called @SpaceShuttleAlmanac.
Cruise is reportedly planning to film a movie in space. The new film will nepal number data not be part of the popular Mission: Impossible franchise. The crew is expected to land on the ISS in October 2021.
Jared Isaacman and Inspiration4
The only announced member of the Inspiration4 crew so far is billionaire and founder of payment platform Shift4, Jared Isaacman. It is also known that one spot will go to someone associated with St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The last two spots are up for grabs.
One of them will go to anyone who makes a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or is in any way associated with it.
The second will be received by an entrepreneur who uses the Shift4Shop website from Shift4 to start a business.
Inspiration4 will fly on a Falcon 9 rocket, with the crew housed in SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule. The Inspiration4 website says that it plans to conduct scientific research in microgravity, as well as experiments aimed at expanding knowledge about the universe.
The exact date of Inspiration4's departure has not yet been determined. At this time, only the following is known.
The competition for a place in Inspiration4 ends at the end of February.
The crew will be announced at the end of March.
Inspiration4 will not be launched until the fourth quarter of 2021, which begins on October 1.
