“Gas Emergency Plan” – Schedule for the emergency level

After reporting on the early warning level and the subsequent alarm level in our previous blog posts on the “Gas Emergency Plan” , it is now time to take a closer look at the third and final step of the “Gas Emergency Plan”, the emergency level. This describes the consequences of massive long-term supply failures.

What preparations have already been made? What indicators will be used to decide whether to declare an emergency? What is the plan for such a scenario? And, above all, how likely is it to happen?

In this blog post we give you an overview of the current situation and summarize the most important points.

Current situation in the gas supply (as of December 27, 2022)
The alarm level of the emergency plan has been in effect since June 23, 2022. The alarm level is characterized by a significant deterioration in the gas supply situation resulting from a disruption in the gas supply or cameroon consumer email list​ exceptionally high demand. Nevertheless, the situation is still considered tense and a further deterioration of the situation cannot be ruled out. There is still no gas coming through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. The Russian gas is being replaced by supplies from Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. In addition, 11 LNG terminals are to be built on the German coast to replace Russian gas imports. The first LNG terminal was opened in Wilhelmshaven on December 17, 2022 and has been in operation since December 21, 2022. The others are to be completed in 2023. The other gas storage facilities are currently 88 percent full.
