Thanks to chat interoperability, users who use other instant messaging applications, such as Telegram, Snapchat or Signal, will be able to write to WhatsApp users without having to have an active account on Meta . Everything indicates that, for example, a Telegram user will be able to write to a WhatsApp user and the messages can be seen and answered from this section separate from traditional chats.

As revealed by WABetaInfo, the feature appears in the latest beta version of WhatsApp, although it is not officially available yet, as the company is still working on it. The European Commission has set a six-month deadline for companies considered "gatekeepers" to make the necessary changes to their platforms to comply with the DMA rules .

We'll just have to wait and see how Meta will implement interoperability in WhatsApp's advanced features, such as file sharing, video calling, and audio messaging. In addition, end-to-end encryption hong kong number data will also need to work with third-party services, so this new feature is just the tip of the iceberg of changes the platform must face.

Apple is not required to change its platform for now
Something that is particularly striking is that within the European Commission's instant messaging section only two applications appear that are considered "gatekeepers", WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger , which must also have messaging interoperability activated by March next year, both belonging to Meta.

It is curious that Apple's messaging platform, iMessage, is not included in the list . This is because Apple has so far indicated that its messaging service does not have that much of a market share in the EU and has not yet reached the 45 million user threshold .

The European Commission is currently investigating whether Apple actually meets the conditions to be considered a "gatekeeper" and will make a final decision in the coming weeks.
