Content Marketing
Entertainment and news are currently major pillars. What opportunities does that offer for content marketing? For the content parties that are now developing formats, the revenue model is a point of attention. Marc Schreuder does not see the problem there yet: “I learn from research that a commercial message can work just fine, as long as you announce it. That way, the public will understand it, just like it does now. But we first have to find out whether a large group of people is actually waiting for our services – and the same applies to advertisers.”

In addition, voice can be a way to unlock other content. After all, you can ask your voice assistant to search for a specific song by your favorite artist on YouTube and play it on your TV (if you have paired the devices). Schreuder also sees opportunities there: “For us, video content is of course more important [than voice]. It would be nice if we could use voice in the future to unlock our videos. For example, by playing the latest news videos on a TV.”

Voice search is mainly suitable for factual searches. Where you now pick up your phone when you have a question in company that no one has an answer to, you will soon involve your voice assistant in the conversation. But that becomes more difficult when it comes to subjective questions . Which smartphone brand is the best? Siri will certainly have a different answer to that than Google Assistant. Of course, your device will get to know you and make suggestions based on that.

Partly because of this, it is not very likely that textual search will disappear completely. However, it is wise to (co-) optimize your content for voice search . Textual searches often do not consist of complete sentences ('bake apple pie'), but you would not quickly give a friend a search query in the form of an order ('how do you bake an apple pie?'). Therefore, answer questions on your website. And do not forget to include the 5 w's and the h: who, what, where, when, why and how. Microdata such as location and opening hours are also becoming more important. If you are looking for a restaurant where you want to eat tonight, a suggestion for a restaurant on the other side of the country is of no use to you ( or a hairdresser for a haircut).

Gartner predicts that 30 percent of searches will be done via voice in 2020. Google plans to introduce the Google Home in the Netherlands this year . And because the devices are quite laos telegram data affordable (in the US, the prices for Google Home and Google Home Mini are around 130 and 50 dollars, and for Amazon Echo and the Echo Dot around 100 and 50 dollars), it could well become the Christmas present of 2018.
