How to find your first TikTok trend

The easiest way to discover TikTok trends is to be active on the platform yourself. Even 30 minutes a day will help you better understand TikTok and its trends. Which actions, sounds, and lyrics are repeated? How many likes/views does the content have? 50,000 views or more is already considered a trend; 1 million views or more is usually considered a viral video.

You now understand what TikTok trends are and how you can use them for your ads. We also learned that TikTok itself recommends incorporating trending content into your ads so they fit natively into the platform.

The big question, however, is: does this even make sense?

Are TikTok trends worth using for your ads?
A native ad is all well and good—it entertains users. But does it also sell? What taiwan phone number data do the numbers say? Do trend concepts really make sense for TikTok ads?

We tested numerous ad concepts on our clients' TikTok advertising accounts and evaluated their performance. Here are some examples:

Our conclusion after this test run is clear:

Classic performance ads with UGC also perform better on TikTok than trend concepts.

While trends generate high engagement, meaning they receive numerous likes and comments, they convert much less to the website than traditional UGC concepts (e.g., testimonials or pain point ads). Users may like the content, but it doesn't inspire them to make a purchase and therefore won't click through to your store. In all of our tests, the add-to-cart costs for trend concepts were significantly higher than those for UGC concepts. This means that with trend ads, significantly more money had to be spent to acquire a new customer. Unfortunately, even the best-performing trend ads couldn't scale as well as traditional UGC ads.
