The city of Saint-Joachim had to raise funds for the project through voluntary taxation and obtain permission from residents. This was not a problem for former Valencia city councilor for climate, Alejandro Ramon, who explained that the city owns the cemetery land and can therefore manage it as it wishes.
But just to make sure they weren't walking on anyone's graves, they asked permission from the Catholic diocese, which supported the idea.

This means that far less additional relocation infrastructure needs to be built. Additionally, residents can be inspired by the fact that their ancestors continue to contribute to the community even years after their deaths.
