What's your meme?

Post by Abdur12 »

Before talking about what your meme is, it is good to understand what is behind this concept. What message will the blogosphere inherit from you?

Yesterday I was in Barcelona for a meeting where I heard for the first time about the book “Memecracy” by Delia Rodriguez . I haven’t read it yet so I can’t recommend it to you or tell you not to buy it. In her book, the founder of the Huffington Post Spain analyzes the factors that decide how a piece of content, slogan, trend, phrase, etc. goes viral on the internet.

You already know that I am interested in this topic and some of you may already know my opinion on the subject . Viral marketing is not planned, it just happens. Before talking about memes, it would be japanese phone numbers good to have some kind of definition to understand the meaning behind them.

What is a meme?
The word Meme was coined by Richard Dawkins in “The Selfish Gene” where he first described the concept. Wikipedia defines it as follows:

A meme (or mem) is, in theories of cultural diffusion, the theoretical unit of cultural information transmissible from one individual to another, or from one mind to another, or from one generation to the next.

Maybe after the first reading you were left feeling the same. I had to read it several times to understand more or less what they were trying to tell us. My translation would be the following:

A meme is the packaging that helps transport a message, an idea, a trend, etc. from one person to another.

Viral videos are part of this group of means of transport. Richard Dawkins argues that these packages have to be adapted to the cultural context and can even generate changes within it.
