“The tool is not the goal,” my former colleague Floor van Riet said years ago. The answer to the question of which tool fits the goal of your organization is of essential importance. You can look at this in different ways. Of course you can opt for more or less standard ( social ) intranets such as Iris and Embrace , or for SharePoint. Or you develop a solution in Drupal or Kentico, but that is not exactly what I mean. I mean which technical model, which concept fits your intranet or digital work environment. In an article from last year I distinguished three:
The landscape model
The hybrid model
Universal model
The universal intranet has news, booking leave days, booking meeting rooms, ordering mobile phones, customer information, agenda, projects, video chat, etc. All in one total solution. Although many organizations seem to strive for this model, it does not strictly exist. Because there is not one tool that really brings everything together in your organization.

In addition: one tool to rule them all is extremely complex. You design hundreds of use cases, development takes months (or even years) and the management of such a solution is very expensive. Moreover, the universal intranet is actually unworkable for the short term (not quickly available) and long term (inflexible, difficult to manage).
Landscape model
The landscape model is perhaps the most greece whatsapp number common. It encompasses a palette of standalone tools, applications, information sources and channels. An important part of your strategy for this model is to define which tool has which purpose or use case , and how it differentiates itself from other tools.
A disadvantage of this model can be that employees do not (anymore) know where to find which information or which action they can perform. As a result, people avoid the 'official' tools and start using their own solutions. This in turn makes the landscape even more diffuse. So explain to employees clearly which tool is intended for what.
A digital work environment based on the landscape model has the important advantage that you can easily and quickly replace applications over time, if better alternatives come onto the market. And that also benefits the sustainability in the long term.
Hybrid model
The hybrid model is an intermediate form between the universal intranet and the landscape model: a combination of one central intranet (sometimes 'traditional', sometimes 'social') with a series of tools or applications for specific tasks linked to it (more loosely or more tightly.
