Salesforce is the leading CRM software in this market area and is working to remain so. To achieve this, among other things, it must maintain a modern and competitive image in the eyes of users. Salesforce Classic is the user interface (UI) born with the software and is largely responsible for the success of this product. Over the years, new customer demands and competition led to a renewal. The Lightning Platform was born and with it developers began to create attractive applications easily and quickly. This gave rise to Lightning Experience (LEX), a new UI that has allowed Salesforce to continue to be at the forefront. Lightning represents the future of Salesforce and Classic is becoming a thing of the past.
Salesforce Classic
Salesforce Classic was the only UI available for Salesforce CRM until 2016 when Lightning Experience was released, and is the one that older users are most comfortable with.
Currently, the design of this interface may seem outdated croatia whatsapp lead when compared to other CRMs on the market. It contains a lot of text and few icons, texts with small letters and many empty spaces; the latter is very noticeable on large modern monitors. The graphics it displays are not large enough and have low resolution. In general, it is not an interface that is as fluid to navigate through, nor easy to assimilate as the ones most users are used to today. However, those who know it, as long as they see all their needs covered, will prefer to use it. Although LEX is intuitive and easy to learn, it will take time for all users to migrate to it.
Since 2019, no new features have been added to Salesforce Classic, and in January 2020, all organizations automatically switched to using LEX as the default UI, but with the option to switch to Classic in most cases. Despite these measures, which have been implemented to guide users towards a new, more modern interface, Classic has not disappeared. There are users who continue to choose it, and Salesforce has no plans to end its useful life yet.
What is Lightning Experience?
Lightning Experience is the UI that has been designed to meet the expectations that users have today regarding how web applications should work. Renewed, attractive, more intuitive, designed to be functional on all types of devices and increase user productivity. Salesforce has been taking steps to make the user experience with its software better and better. Despite its difficult start, LEX has not only reached the level of Salesforce Classic, but has surpassed it in many aspects. All efforts have been directed to make this UI the preferred one for new users and the one that veterans want to migrate to. Despite the very active support and continuous improvements that Lightning receives, those most loyal to Classic will always find some reason to resist.
Why do some people resist change and even return to the past?
There is a popular saying that “the good doesn’t cover the bad” and that is what has happened with Lightning Experience. No matter how many new and powerful features it has, it will often be judged by what it lacks. In the last released version of Salesforce, Spring ’21, the “Sharing” button was incorporated (a feature that allows sharing a record with a user or group of users). Many believed that this was all that was missing and that users would stop switching to Salesforce Classic looking to satisfy old needs, as was the case at the time with the use of the “recycle bin”. But this has not been the case; for many users its performance is below Classic, in addition to other deficiencies that they point out such as:
A more complex “duplicate management”, less intuitive and with more steps.
An “account merge” is also much less intuitive and complicated.
Absence of “similar opportunities” functionality.
Missing some filters in the “Report Generator”.
These are valid points, but there are many more options that Lightning offers that are not in Classic. It is worth noting that there are many features that users give up on in Lightning simply due to lack of knowledge.

Why stop resisting Lightning Experience?
Because it's the future and it's inevitable. Lightning Experience continues to be updated and renewed, and it's getting closer to meeting all of its users' expectations.
It has many more features than Classic, some of which are:
Performance charts and campaign member statuses.
An Assistant with recommendations for actions you could take in your organization.
Routes, News, Activity Chronologies.
More varied forecasts (dates, products, territories)
A more customizable experience, thanks to Lightning App Builder.
New way of viewing data using the Kanban view.
Deeper integration with Einstein AI (activity capture, opportunity and account insights, automated contacts).
The option to use the Einstein Bot Builder.
The ability to design new types of pages (application, home and registration pages).
LEX has been a milestone for Salesforce. It's not about Salesforce Classic vs Lightning, it's about accepting that Salesforce has evolved and we must do so too.
