E-Commerce Statistics in 2022

Post by monira444 »

More and more companies are looking for the advantages of making their businesses digital. Especially in the retail sector, where the opportunities of e-commerce are more evident.

E-commerce has grown exponentially since the period of social isolation, when most stores entered the digital environment in a hurry. Today, however, we can already have a better view of the trends that are being followed and how they can help your business gain more prominence.

DataFeedWatch’s report analyzed over 15,000 online stores across more than 60 regions. The goal of the research was to provide actionable insights into the fundamentals of ecommerce digital marketing efforts.

Check out the main data from the study:

Product availability can be a problem for user experience

According to the study, most online stores have – on singapore whatsapp data average – 999 products, with auto parts retailers being the largest in terms of products (7937 registered codes), followed by home and garden items (6819 registered codes) and clothing (6454 registered codes).

However, only 26% of products are actually for sale. The reasons why products are listed but not available have not been explored. However, the reality is that 16% of products for sale are not available.

The lack of products available in stock is something that bothers many consumers, as it creates a breach of expectations – going to the website, believing that the product is actually available when, in fact, it is not.

France, Australia and Latin American countries are the main ones in this ranking, with more than 22% of products out of stock. On the other hand, the United Kingdom and the United States surpass most countries in product availability.

The sectors with the greatest reduction in stock are vehicles and parts (57.46%), sporting goods (40%) and photography (22%).

Biggest discounts

The study found that fashion retailers offer the most discounts, with an average of 36% on clothing and accessories and 33.12% on health and beauty. The furniture market comes in third place, with an average discount of 32.77%.

The number of communication channels depends on the size of the company

The average online store advertises on at least 3.2 communication channels, however, stores that have more than 200,000 products usually use 16 different channels, while those with around 500 products use only two channels.

The sector that invests the most in a multinational strategy is Home and Garden (3.9 channels), closely followed by Electronics (3.6 channels) and Furniture (3.4 channels).

Google search is the clear leader as the most used advertising channel (92%), followed by social media (54%). However, an interesting fact is that only 44% of the e-commerce sites analyzed are using these two channels together, making this a channel that is still under-explored compared to solo strategies.

Another channel that is not widely explored, but that could be a good bet for brands looking to expand their channels, is affiliate channels (11%). A recent study by Demand Gen Report shows that partnership programs are a priority for entering the B2B market in the coming years.

Problems with Product Lists

7% of all product listings worldwide are rejected due to errors in product data. The main problem is related to product images (20%), with the most common errors being:

image too small;
missing image;
generic image;
promotional image.
Additionally, 19% of errors are caused by issues with the GTIN (barcode) and 23% of rejected products cause some shipping issue.

The positive point for Shopify customers is that, according to the study, only 5.47% of the product feeds of these stores had any issues, making them the healthiest e-commerce provider, according to the study.
