In any case, Instagram Stories are here to stay.

And what about brands? There are some very active on Snapchat, with very original and interesting content, that haven't yet posted anything on Instagram Stories. Others have started replicating the same things on Instagram Stories as they do on Snapchat. And then there are some that never even considered Snapchat and have started being active on Instagram Stories (but that's a topic for another post).

Eight Instagram Stories features you should know about1. Post previously recorded photos and videos
You can not only post the images and videos you take in the moment, but phone number library also those saved in your phone's camera roll. Just swipe down on the Instagram Stories home screen: you'll see the photos and videos you've taken in the last 24 hours, including Boomerang or Hyperlapse photos. Take a photo a while ago? Take a screenshot from your phone, and you can restore it for Instagram Stories. Have you posted content on Snapchat that you want to share on Instagram Stories too? Save your Snapchat story to your phone and restore it for Instagram.

When viewing content on Instagram Stories, you can pause the video or photo viewing time by simply pressing your finger on the screen. If the profile has posted multiple photos or videos and you want to go back and watch the content again, just tap the left side of the screen. If you want to fast-forward, tap anywhere on the screen (except the left) to skip to the next image. And if you want to stop watching the story, tap the “X” in the top right corner (this will close Instagram Stories) or swipe left to right on the screen (this will open the next user’s story in your Instagram Stories line). Lines at the top of the screen indicate the length of each story.

You have two options: 1) To be selective on each story, once you've published your content, tap the three dots in the bottom right corner. In the "Story Settings" menu, you can select who you want to hide the story from and decide who can reply to your story with a message (everyone, only people you follow, or no one). 2) To configure all your Instagram Stories generally, go to "Settings" in your profile and select your preferences under "Story Settings."
