How do you work out designs when developing new websites and applications? This is handled differently. In traditional projects, the designs are largely worked out in advance and changes are implemented during the project. This is expensive, because the application has already been partly or completely built. It is therefore a good choice to approach the project based on scrum. This is currently the standard for many companies. For example, government organizations and other large organizations increasingly require scrum as a condition for software development. But what
As a designer, do not work out the entire design in advance. It is also not useful to give the client the impression with a detailed graphic design that everything is already clear and coordinated, and as it were 'just needs to be built'. You then deprive the clients, users and developers of the opportunity to test, experience and adjust where necessary in the meantime.
It is much more effective if you test the ideas and design principles with customers and users as early as possible. This also fits in better with an agile approach. In an agile approach, a focused hospital email list multidisciplinary team (the scrum team) works on the gradual improvement of a product in short periods of one to four weeks (the sprints). The team realizes the most important components first based on a prioritized wish list (the product backlog ). At the end of each sprint, there is a working product that can be tested with customers and users (the stakeholders). The image below shows the approach of such a scrum project.
In addition to the development team members, a scrum team has the following two roles. The scrum master coaches the team in the scrum process, and the product owner is the contact person for the scrum team about the product to be developed and the coordination with stakeholders.
How do you design within a scrum approach?
The question now is: how do you fit the design work into such a scrum approach in the best possible way? How far do you go with working out the designs in advance, and what is better left to the sprints in the execution phase of the project?
The answer to these questions lies in the three most important principles for a successful project:
