Blogging Chief Physician: “Don’t try to lure a fish with a chocolate bar”

Interview with the physician Dr. Gernot Langs

Question: A blogging doctor, especially a blogging chief physician: That is still the exception in Germany. Hospital doctors and practice owners are also underrepresented in social networks. Do you have any idea why this might be?

Gernot Langs: Many people will be hesitant to expose themselves in this way. Blogging is something very personal: it's about opinions, not (just) factual content. I also hear from time to time that colleagues don't feel confident enough when using social networks and are hesitant to try out new things. The time factor also plays a role. Blogging sounds easy, but it's hard to do well "on the side" without professional support from experienced bloggers or editors.

Question: When did you start blogging and why?

Gernot Langs: I started blogging myself at the end of 2016. The uncomplicated linkedin data format, the directness and the opinion-forming function of blogs had fascinated me for a long time. I like reading blogs, I like discussions and I like to take a stand on topics myself.
