In the middle of the pandemic, while I was active and looking at it little by little, I found myself in a call for applications from Startup Global, where an entrepreneurship entity was looking for 10 Colombian entrepreneurs to take them through an acceleration process in Switzerland. I found it, went on the website, read the requirements and thought I could apply. I applied, my university helped me with some details and after several months I was selected, in two weeks I am going to live in Switzerland.
There are quite a few differences, one is completely professional oman number and the other is more personal, it is based on trying to build a personal brand. Instagram is a network that shows more of your day-to-day life, but you can really say a lot more on LinkedIn and people will understand who you are, beyond the likes, it is much more serious what you can find there. I have had many opportunities. A large economic group was able to raise capital with us thanks to the fact that I made a post on LinkedIn about Easy Line .
Personal branding for the entrepreneur
What do you think about Personal Branding?
This is a very important point and it is something that many entrepreneurs pursue, but in my view it is not an end but a means, and it is something that is built on the basis of results. Many people call themselves and oversell themselves by presenting themselves as experts, but the truth is that what builds a brand is honesty and results.
The entrepreneurs I really admire are entrepreneurs who don't have to make a lot of noise about what they do, but are simply excellent and opportunities start to come to them. A very clear example is Diego Noriega. He doesn't spend his time saying who he is or what he does, but rather shows where he intends to contribute. It is very important to take care of your personal brand.
What does personal branding mean to you?
Your personal brand is you. It's not that the brand is outside looking at us. We are the brand and we must take care of our reputation and our brand. Reputation and brand are the same thing: if you don't take care of it, no one will do it for you. It's very important to take care of your personal brand because it takes time to build it. There are people you know first hand who have an excellent personal brand. You have to reflect what you are, what you have, what you try to build. You are what you say, you have to be and seem. For me, it's super important that people your age give importance to your personal brand.
I think LinkedIn is very good for seeing trends, because in some way you see what your competitor or client is doing, and it allows you to connect the dots. It's a very interesting universe. I consume a lot and I've learned a lot and it has led me to understand a lot of things. It's an example of how an entrepreneur can use his network to see what's happening in his ecosystem.
It's important for your generation to understand the enormous value of personal branding and then start publishing. Because brands are built by publishing. That's how it is. I always talk about digital volume. Digital volume has two major components: publishing and frequency. Frequency per publication gives you digital volume, and that's what makes people look at your profile when you send connections and look to connect with other people: they see what you publish, who you are, what you did.
